The beautiful medieval walled-city of Carcassonne is only 20 minutes by car. Stroll through the streets and enjoy the atmosphere in the cafés or eat at one of the many restaurants, take a tour around the city walls. Learn the history or just enjoy the view. A guided tour will tell you the fascinating story of the Cathars and how Carcassonne was the setting for the film Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. Modern Carcassonne nearby offers all the conveniences of a contemporary city, including lots of shopping and sightseeing opportunities.
The Canal du Midi. Built in the 17th Century, this tranquil, tree-lined canal meanders through some of the most glorious French countryside, and you can hire boats for the day.
Sailing and swimming in the lakes of the Montagne Noir - Bassin du Lampy - Bassin de Saint-Ferroél (they also control and maintain the water levels in the Canal du Midi).
Lastours - See the imposing towers of the Chateaux of Lastours perched on the hilltops with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. During the months of July and August there is a Son et Lumiere display every Thursday and Sunday evening.

The Viaduc at Milau. A trip across the sky, well 340M up, on the new suspension bridge on the A75. At 160 kms distance it's quite a journey but it's worth it for the trip alone, traveling up through the Tarn.

Grotte de Limousis - This huge underground grotto consists of fantastic formations of stalactites and stalagmites and can be visited with guided tours.
The Gouffre du Gabrespine - This natural phenomena is a gorge inside a mountain deep enough to hold the Eiffel tower. There are short tours to see the rock formations or you can take a 5 hour underground walk
The 90m Cascade of Cubserviés is definitely worth the trip.
Go-Karting
The beaches of the Mediterranean at Narbonne Plage and the Village on Stilts at Gruissan at only an hours drive.
